Tony Carling at the Byfleet Folk Club

“We had the pleasure and joy of spending one and a half hours in the company of and listening to Tony displaying what can only be described as pure genius. A mixture of anecdotal comedic songs followed by life stories and songs (from his own vast back catalogue) to back up those stories. And such a nice bloke too”

Comment from tenterded folk festival on mudcat

Hi, Sylvia Here. I'm going to add another name, Tony Carling. Singer songwriter. Not what I was expecting at Tenterden, but I'm glad Alan booked him and I really enjoyed his set, and I'd like to see and hear more. Great sense of humour and fun, but thought provoking, sometimes taking you in a direction you weren't expecting! If you go onto his website www.tonycarling.co.uk (hope the blue clicky thing has worked, my first time) you'll see what I mean. Read the story of his early years - when you've read it, you'll see why I say "story" and not auto-biography, and you'll get the feeling of his sense of humour as well. Cheers - Sylvia

Tony Carling at Amberley Folk Club

The Amberley audience really appreciated Tony's songs and his easy style. Although there is a humerous edge to his material behind it all lies an autobiographical thread which gives a real life feel to his songs. Tony's enthusiasm is quite infectious and he is obviously at ease in front of an audience.
To pigeonhole him as a comedian would be wrong, he's more than just that.  The audience, however, were falling about on many occasions as well as grinning along with the more subtle innuendos. Thanks very much from the Amberley crowd.'

"Plenty of laughs were heard from the audience as Tony entertained us with songs written about life on a building site and much more."
